The kids and I enjoy sitting outside and watching the bees as they fly in and out of the hive. It may sound strange, but it is amazing to watch them work. Sometimes you can see the dark yellow of the pollen that collects on their back legs. In the evening, right before the sun goes down they usually bring any dead bees to the entrance and push them off into the grass. Bees keep their hives clean. Each bee has a job to do and they are born knowing how to do it. This hive was a swarm captured in an apartment building. They seem to be doing well, growing strong in number and hopefully next summer we will be able to harvest some honey from this hive.
